How do electric cars work vs. a combustion engine?
Instead of burning gas, all electric vehicles store electricity in a large rechargeable battery. When you press the accelerator, the electric motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy, moving the car.
How do EV tax credits work?
EV tax credits reduce the amount of taxes you owe when you buy an eligible electric vehicle. The credit amount depends on the specific model and may vary by location. To claim the credit, you typically file for it when you submit your taxes return. Some states off additional incentives or rebates, which lower the overall cost of the vehicle even more.Â
Do extended range vehicles use gas?
No, extended range batteries are simply a bigger version of standard range batteries. This allows them to store more electricity and take you farther on a single charge. Vehicles that combine the use of a gas engine and electric motor are called hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicles.
